Hi. I suffer with multiple health conditions, including depression and isolationism, and I want to vent about our health system. I struggle daily with getting out of bed, getting dressed, and trying to function. With multiple health conditions comes multiple specialists, which in turn means multiple appointments. Everyone who suffers with depression and isolationism know that it is challenging, to say in the least, to get up, get ready, and make yourself get to an appointment. Our doctors who treat us know this because we tell them and the prescribe medication for it. But, somehow, they get angry when you call to reschedule appointments, as if you wouldn't be there with bells on if you could! I have been seeing an internal medicine specialist for four years now and wad told on my last visit that if I miss another appointment that they will no longer see me. Seriously?! It's like they think I'm just lazy and won't come in! Insomnia is also one of my health problems. I've had it since my teenage years. I've tried every medication made to treat insomnia but cannot take them because they don't make me fall asleep, keep me asleep in a coma-like state when I finally do fall asleep, and make me feel drugged for days afterwards. Yet my doctor, who knows this, feels like I miss my appointments on purpose?!Give me a break! I have multiple chemical imbalances from multiple health problems and all I want is some relief from all of it, which is why I do struggle to make appointments! Don't add more stress to the situation by telling me that you are not going to continue to be my doctor if I miss another appointment! Where's the compassion that they swear an oath to have for their patients and what they are suffering through? My doctor never acted like this until they joined a huge medical group. This group is run by some doctors, but also by businessmen, who never took an oath and don't care about anything but the bottom line! If Obama wants to fix the health care system, he also needs to work on the roots of the problems, starting with non-medical personnel who make health care decisions for those of us who are suffering with the health problems! It's just so frustrating! I don't know that there's anything that can or would be done about this, but at least I got it all off of my chest!
